Dr. Z. Michael Taweh, MD

Founder, President & Medical Director

Dr. Taweh founded Kevin's Community Center in 2002 in loving memory of his son Kevin, leading a community-wide grassroots effort that brought together state and municipal government, the business and medical communities, nonprofits, and citizens united in support of accessible healthcare.

Dr. Taweh has been a primary care physician since 1999, maintaining his practice in Danbury as Comprehensive Medical Care and PrimeMediSpa.com. He was presented the prestigious Dr. Melville G. Magida Award in 2004, sponsored by the Fairfield County Medical Association and the Richard & Hinda Rosenthal Foundation.

He is a Fellow at the American College of Physicians and a Certified Medical Director.

Dr. Joseph Young, OD

Board Chair — Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Joseph Young is a retired Optometrist. He was in private practice in Newtown for over 25 years, where he raised a family of two daughters. He has been a medical provider for Kevin’s Community Center for many years and is now the President of the Board.

Dr. Young graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University. He completed an internship in ocular disease at the V/A Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida.

He is currently the President of the Newtown Lions Club, where he chairs the Lions Health Committee, providing vision screenings for hundreds of school children in the Newtown school system. Before COVID, he made a yearly medical mission to the mountains of Honduras.

His passion has always been to enjoy the feeling of serving his community. “We Serve” is the motto of the Lions Club, but those two words sum up Dr. Young’s life philosophy.

Dina Sabia

Treasurer — Newtown Savings Bank

A proud Newtown resident for more than 20 years, Dina has deep roots in the community and a genuine passion for giving back. She works at Newtown Savings Bank as AVP, Loan Servicing Operations Manager, bringing strong leadership and a people-first approach to financial services.

Dina is married and the proud parent of two children who attended Newtown Public Schools — her daughter is a Special Education Teacher, and her son is an Orthopedic Physician Assistant.

She has served as Treasurer of Kevin’s Community Center for the past five years and co-created the KCC Fairfield Hills Music Festival with her husband. She has also been a dedicated volunteer with the Newtown Arts Festival for the past 11 years.

Known for her collaborative style, reliability, and warm sense of humor, Dina is deeply committed to making Newtown not just a town — but a community.

Brian Fonck

Board Member — Newtown Savings Bank

Brian resides in Newtown, Connecticut with his wife, Diane, and their two children, Emma and Jake. He has served on the Kevin’s Community Center Board for over five years and currently serves as Board Chair of TEAM, Inc., a nonprofit based in Derby, Connecticut.

With over 27 years in banking, Brian has been with Newtown Savings Bank for more than 22 years, where he serves as First Vice President, Retail Banking and Deposit Product Management, overseeing all branch operations and deposit product management.

In 2018, he was honored with the “New Leaders in Banking” award by the Connecticut Bankers Association, recognizing emerging leaders with exceptional promise in the Connecticut banking industry.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the New England College of Business and Finance and is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance & Management.

Peter Taweh

Board Member

Peter Taweh is a real estate-focused professional and graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Business. His studies concentrated on housing markets, mortgage policy, and Connecticut’s regional economic development.

He is currently pursuing an MBA in Manhattan, further developing his expertise in finance, investment strategy, and business operations.

Peter’s long-term objective is to become a real estate developer, with an emphasis on building and revitalizing communities through strategic investment and redevelopment. He is particularly interested in improving access to housing and creating sustainable, income-generating assets that benefit both investors and local residents.

As a member of the Kevin’s Community Center Board of Directors, Peter brings a data-driven perspective and strong commitment to community engagement. He is dedicated to supporting programs that expand opportunity, strengthen local infrastructure, and promote long-term economic growth.
